Contraindications:
Patients on anticoagulant therapy should be prescribed pau d arco because of potential warfainlike action of naphthoquinones at high doses.
Warnings and Precautions:
Although PDA contains potentially toxic active constituents that can generate free radicals and interfere with mitochondrial respirations and blood coagulation .
Interactions:
Prescribing PDA with anticoagulants is contraindicated
Use in Pregnancy and lactation
Caution in pregnancy resulting from possible abortive and teratogenic actions
Side effects :
Adverse effects have been recorded during clinical trails using lapachol but no evidence has been found to suggest that PDA would cause similar effects . No adverse effects are expected when consumed within recommend range dosage.
Dosage :
3 to 7 ml of 1;1 liquid extract daily
20 to 50 ml of liquid extract weekly
